Objectives and Scope of the Assignment

The primary objective of this assignment is to support the work of the International GIS-based Modelling Expert and the International Minigrid Market Development Expert. Thus, this assignment is expected to: 1) Support sourcing and analyzing spatial data using a mapping software 2) Assist with data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form 3) Assist in the production of map overlays showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including MSMEs, PUEs, satellite / value chain analysis data, mobile network data 4) Support in the production of reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations 5) Carry out field surveys to collect site-specific data to develop market intelligence for Tier 1 and Tier 2 agricultural value chains 6) Contribute to the assessment of climate risks in agricultural value chains 7) Contribute to the capacity building of stakeholders on results of feasibility studies and market intelligence

Consultant Competencies

The required qualifications and experience of the consultant are as follows: · An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Geography, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field · At least 10 years of relevant work experience across data analysis, preferably on geographically based data analysis and field data collection · Experience in working with the UN, and UNDP in particular, international organizations, and similar agencies would be an advantage · Clear understanding of - and skills for carrying out GIS-based analysis, and field surveying · Previous experience in conducting similar assignments.
